February 27, 2008:

Welcome to the initial posting of my new P*LOG.  I'll use this space to periodically post thoughts, plans, hopes, dreams, and sometimes news & events.

Just now, I'm in the midst of serious planning for our third annual Stations of the Cross devotional art installation.  The show opens on Wednesday, March 19 with a viewing of the art work and a reception.  The past two years have been BIG EVENTS for us.  We're anticipating a big crowd again this year.

I've served as curator/exhibit designer & planner since we began this arts ministry.  But, with a background in theatrical design, I've always wanted to create one of the stations myself.  This year, I get my wish:  initial plans for the last TWO stations fell through late in the game, so I turned to my two good friends Mark Wolfe and Amy Williams, who were among the first Charleston, WV area artists to become involved with Stations of the Cross in 2006.  The three of us had a brainstorming session and in short order came up with a plan for Station #13 (Jesus dies on the cross) and some ideas for Station #14 (Jesus is laid in the tomb).

For 13, Mark agreed to make photographs in his wonderfully stark and revealing black & white style.  I "engaged" local actor/musician Will Taylor to model for us, and, on an overcast day at about 25 F, will portrayed Jesus wearing only a ragged pair of jeans!  Fortunately, Mark works very, very fast, so Will was only "exposed" for very short periods of time.  The results are spectacular; come see for yourself.

Join us again for Stations of the Cross: a Devotional Art Installation.
